Coronavirus Treatments

Let’s not wait for the data. Let’s create the data by aggressively using coronavirus treatments such as REMDESVIR & other medicines like; hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, very high dosage of intravenous vitamin C, Kaletra (combination antiviral drug used in HIV for many years.

As the coronavirus cases begin to decline (flattening the curve )not only in California but most of the country due to the valiant effort of the citizens by abiding by the social distancing despite enormous losses to the personal and national economy, there is a chorus of appeals from all citizens to gradually reopen the society in a measured way.

In my previous posts up to seven weeks ago, I have strongly urged that we need to start treating the patients, to prevent morbidity and mortality and the spread of the coronavirus.

A Promising Coronavirus Treatment

REMDESVIR has been tried on a limited basis and has shown very promising results and yet we are not using it sufficiently and aggressively. UPDATE from 4/21/20 on the latest improvements in the treatment. The report from Chicago university study shows tremendous improvement and should be pursued in a lot more university hospitals and by doctors, just not on a compassionate basis, but as a regular treatment for moderate to severe cases of coronavirus so that we can prevent the mortality to a very significant degree.

The federal government should direct Gilead to speed up the production and make it readily available to the hospitals and practicing doctors so that we can institute the coronavirus treatment and feed into the data that some scientists are waiting for. There should be a sense of urgency and the time is now. These are not normal times & We should no longer have the wait and see attitude. We should have a very deliberate and aggressive therapeutic approach to combat and halt the spread of this aggressive virus.

Lets also aggressively try the convalescent serum for its antibody immunity value. It was extremely successful in treating Ebola and there’s no reason for us not to be pursuing that in a very methodical& deliberate way. What are we waiting for? Thinking outside the box to infuse immunity in all the grandparents of the world.
FDA should look at the work done by Youngblood Institute for their pioneering work on young plasma transfusion to boost immunity in the aging & the vulnerable in the current crisis. It seems promising.
HPE-Heterochronic plasma exchange.

TPE-therapeutic plasma exchange-plasma pheresis. TPE filters and removes Old plasma as well as pathogens carried by the plasma in the blood. New (youth 18-30 age group)plasma components, including albumin and Immuno Globulins, then replace the old plasma which is discarded. This helps in rejuvenating the immune system.

Parabiosis. Youth plasma (age group 20 to 30 as blood donors) transfusion to the vulnerable age group of 70 years and above-(particularly with other compromising health issues )should be considered as a therapeutic boost to the immunity. Once again the coronavirus data has shown us that the morbidity and mortality is in enormously high in the age group of 70 and above because of a weakened immune system.

This will be a great time for the 20-30-year-old grandchildren to infuse their grandparents and other grandparents with their fabulous & vibrant antibodies and immunity. We can create a protocol. We can execute it scientifically and protect the most vulnerable.

This could be a real game-changer. with a much-needed therapy to halt the spread of this dreadful virus. FDA should look at it as a guide and allow this pioneering research to help with the current crisis. Finding a vaccine as well as a proper coronavirus treatment is the worlds highest priority. Let the doctors work with the data and collaborate on eradicating this virus that has plagued our lives.
