The primary benefit of closed rhinoplasty is the fact that there is no external scarring. Dr. Kanodia performs closed rhinoplasty by making his incisions on the inside of the patients nostril, effectively making them invisible after recovery/healing.
What is Closed Rhinoplasty?
As stated above it is a technique that Dr. Kanodia uses to perform the nose surgery without cutting the skin from the outside of the nose. Open rhinoplasty is where the surgeon lifts the skin off the tip of the nose and accesses the bone that way. Open rhinoplasty allows the surgeon more freedom to work on the nose but carries a much greater risk of scarring. It takes a greater amount of skill to perform closed rhinoplasty versus doing it via the open method due to the fact that you cannot visualize the area as good. Therefore the rewards when performing closed rhinoplasty are much greater to the patients because there is virtually no scarring when a surgeon has enough skill to perform the technique properly.
